Blizzard's Mike Morhaime has confirmed at the E3 Liveblog that the highly anticipated Starcraft II will be shipped by the end of 2009. He added that the game may be delayed if Blizzard feels that the game isn't ready, because it doesn't release anything unless it's done.A beta test for Starcraft II is also scheduled for this Summer, so it looks like we'll have much in store for us here at Starfeeder.
[6:54] The new Battle.net service will launch alongside Starcraft II, which represents a return to the company's roots.
[6:54] Morhaime talks about the series' well documented popularity in South Korea, where he says it is akin to a national sport.
[6:55] There will be a Starcraft II beta test later this summer, and Morhaime offers to get anyone in attendance into the program. Morhaime expects to launch Starcraft II by the end of the year, though also notes that it will only ship once the game is done.
[6:56] Morhaime said more about the games will be revealed at BlizzCon, and encourages everyone to attend the August show, which sold out yesterday.

This is good news. I haven't expected anything till 2010. Maybe the beta end 2009, but it's on the horizon

[7:22] The next question is on how to monetize the Battle.net platform. Morhaime simply responds, "I'm not ready to talk about that today."

My guest is banner ads, similar to Bnet 1.0
Also possible micro-purchases for some kind of content

Good news, except for the part where Activision is mentioned, they will never be worthy of being next to a name like Blizzard imo.
Anyways SC 2 gogo.

Happy days! I don't mind non-obtrusive banner ads at Battle.net, especially not if they would promote products or services that are relevant to the community, such as sponsored leagues and what not. Also, I do imagine that it will be possible for companies to buy adspace in-game, where observers will be able/forced to view doodads in the terrain that are brand logos and such. If it makes money for gamers somewhere down the line, I reckon that would be okay also.
Either way, SC2 is only two hexes and a fast lurker-rush away - so much joy! GGs all around

Also of note is the fact they're expecting the beta to hit late Summer.

This is not good, this is bad news, game not before end 09, way to long... D3 should come end 09 and SC2 way before...
SC2 makes fan hype, other games are released in that time, like dawn of war, they can be lucky that C&C series sucks right now.
