Yes one can constantly train 8 to 12 hours a night, but let me introduce you to some guys that can help you fix all those problems you may not know you have.

www.rtsprofessional.com
I’ve been chatting lately with Chad of RTS Professional about the website and the video and audio guides found there that help players get better faster in RTS competitive gaming.
On their website you can find video guides of professional players gaming and explaining their strategies in action. This is better then someone guiding you in a game because your focus is completely on the videos and commentary.
They are some of the best players in the world and also do an excellent job of explaining everything that is going on, their mindset and what to do next and more…
This video below are examples of their video guides
TvZ Insta Kill:
Arthosis and Gentho team up for a 2on2 guide, they will be teamed up also during the Blizzard Sponsored 2on2 tournament.
Gentho and Arthosis will be teamed up during the Blizzard Sponsored 2on2 tournament.
On RTS Professional you can find more then just invaluable StarCraft tactical training guides, but also WarCraft III strategy commentary guides and also very important, their RTS Fundamentals program. The Fundamentals program is their premiere product The popular audio guide is available at a new low price $14.99 and comes with a wealth of professional level knowledge and audio training.
What you can find in their RTS Fundamentals program:

I'm pretty sure this is an advertisement.
I respect Lipton and what the RTS Pro guys are doing, but if you're serious about getting good you can do so much faster and effectively for free. It just takes more work.

Thanks for the comments, these guides are meant to help open up a players game... any gamer can play for hours and hours on end, vs computer or players, but not get any better.
However this is knowledge and information passed down from real Professional gamers.
The biggest reason why certain players do not improve is a matter of the mental game and not learning from mistakes. There are other factors like unit knowledge, map memorization, APM, but those are the kind skills are picked up by hours of play.
If a gamer is serious about competing in any RTS their audio guide is worth checking out, I have and I wish this was around 4-5 years ago.
With StarCraft II's release inching closer, I'd bookmark these guys
