^ This is the original concept piece for the 'new' Ultralisk in StarCraft II. The tentacles were fun to watch while skewing marines, but in multiplayer, the 'random' factor of that skewing did not fit into the competitive gameplay nature of StarCraft as well.

That massive thing apparently kills multiple Marines, but with an anime porn style tentacle attack. The current and official model of the Ultralisk definitely makes more sense, though it would be cool if Blizzard left the Omegalisk in the SC2 map editor.
The FireBat to Marauder transformation

For those interested in checking out the concept art of StarCraft - there is a nice example of the transition of the Firebat into the Marauder at the Sons Of the Storm site:

and a nice piece done of the 'Purifier,' which was originally known to the community as the Soul Hunter:
This unit looks way more cooler then the original 'WoWish' surfer we first saw in the first PC Gamer magazine feature:
Interesting, I'll have to ask Karune if the name change may mean a new unit? The Purifier may make a cameo in the single player campaign I suspect.
