For the first time in about a year, it seems the World of Warcraft has fallen off of NPD's weekly PC game sales top 10.  I write about these every now and have a good laugh at Nancy Drew, or the Sims and WoW never leaving the charts or new games which come out and take over the top spot (AoC, Warhammer).

The latest trash coming out of the PR machine that is EA and their CEO John Riccitiello comes via Gamasutra.  The main topic for discussion was Spore and the whole anti-DRM campaign that pissed over the games fan base earning the game a heavy beat down in the gaming press and via Amazon product reviews.

Yahtzee takes on Will Wright's Spore this week with very predictable results.  He notes one of my biggest complaints in that it tries to be too much with it's five stages and does them all average instead of great.

I really hope this is some sort of massive troll attempt that someone is doing for the lulz, but this is modern day society and the sad fact is this could very well be legitimate. 

The site antispore.com popped online the day after Spore came out which is one of the tell tale signs that this could be a fake.  However until I hear otherwise I am writing this under the presumption that the site is legit.

Spore is on its way to your computer September 7th.  Long hailed as one of the "it" titles of this year, of the past couple of years, it is finally a reality.  The game went gold today which means it will make the shelf date of the 7th.

NPD numbers have been released for the week ending June 21st for the PC software sales market.  While the Spore Creature Creator may not be a full game, it seems EA and Will Wright already have a potential hit on their hands.  The penis and boob creating portion of Spore was the top seller in its first week of sales.
